Good news roundup!

Since it's been a while, I have some good news to share ... and hope that I don't forget anything!

First, my friend Kate and her husband Mike had their twin daughters! Kate had a scheduled C-section on Aug. 4, and the girls entered the world that afternoon. Kate and Baby M were able to come home a few days after delivery, but Baby A had to stay in the hospital. Kate and Mike found out several months ago that Baby A had a heart condition - essentially, she only has three chambers in her heart instead of four. Soon after birth, she was taken to the children's hospital in town, and when she was three days old, she underwent the first of at least three surgeries she'll need to treat her heart condition. She's stable and comfortable but isn't able to come home and join her sister until she's off her ventilator and able to eat on her own, which could be several weeks from now. The other planned surgeries will come several months and years in the future, so for now, we're just praying she keeps getting stronger and can come home soon!

I got to visit Baby M (above) when she was just 13 days old. She's so tiny and likes to eat and sleep - a girl after my own heart! She's got the cutest expressions and loves to move her hands around a lot.

In other baby news, Tim's cousin Jeff and his wife Allison (above, from their wedding) are expecting! And our friends Aaron and Sarah are also going to be parents in about six months.

In addition to parents-to-be that I've already blogged about, one of my colleges dorm friends is pregnant, one of Tim's coworkers is expecting in January, another one of Tim's coworkers just had a baby (I made a cake for her baby shower) and there was a period of eight days this month where five babies were born to my coworkers. It's an epidemic!

And in engagement news, my good friend Jen went on vacation last month and returned a bride-to-be! Her fiance proposed with a drawing in the sand and a beautiful ocean background. They're getting married in June! (Photo below is from right after the proposal.)

My roommate from last year, Darla (who witnessed all of my final wedding preparation craziness!), got engaged this summer, too. Her fiance works with Tim, and Darla works at the Times now - she was an intern when she lived with me. They're getting married next fall in Texas.
