Big Week for Baby W.!

Baby W. is enrolled in his or her first classes! (What can I say, we're overachievers!) I like to think of it as baby's first tuition ... but really, the classes are for me and Tim. Even though we're not even halfway through our pregnancy, the hospital recommends that we register for our childbirth education classes during the second trimester so they don't book up. After our 14-week appointment, when we heard the heartbeat, I contacted the hospital to get a schedule of classes. Since we both have such stellar work schedules, full of night and weekend shifts, we had to sit down and figure out when the best times to take the classes will be, but I think we finally figured it out. So I called on Thursday and registered for our five-week childbirth education class, an infant CPR class, a baby basics class and an introductory breastfeeding class. There are a few others I'm considering, but these were the most important for us to both attend and the ones I wanted to make sure we got in to. The hospital recommends that most of the classes be completed 2-4 weeks before your due date, and I think most of our classes are in May and June, so we'll be in good shape. (Am I looking forward to being super pregnant and sitting in classes for 2-3 hours, sometimes twice a week? No. But at least I won't be the only one in that boat!)

In other Baby W. news, we made our first substantial baby purchase this week: An infant car seat! It's the Chicco KeyFit 30 (photo below). We I did a lot of research on this seat, particularly because I wanted to get an infant carrier that will work with a Snap-N-Go stroller (I'm sure I'll have more about that later). The car seat got great safety reviews, and we got a great deal on it. We also got two bases so we'll be able to easily use it with either of our cars. (Yes, I've turned in to a person who gets excited about car seats and strollers.)
