What the baby is up to these days ...

Aside from hiccuping, Elle is busy gaining weight (well, one of us needs to, and it's not me!). She weighs about two pounds and is about 14.5 inches long. She's forming eyelashes and has hair the color and texture of what she'll be born with ... (Although if she's anything like me, she will not be born with hair. Tim apparently had blond hair when he was born. I was bald for two years. On a similar note, my mom told me that babies are likely to be between their parents' birth weights. Tim was 7 pounds, 6 ounces. I was 7 pounds, 11 ounces. So we have a narrow window to hit on that one.) Her skin is smoothing out and she's looking more like a newborn (and I hope we get a glimpse of that at our next ultrasound!).

The nerves in the baby's ears are more developed, and she can likely hear the riveting conversations Tim and I have about what to have for dinner or who needs to fold laundry. Her brain is also developing rapidly, and I'm trying to make sure I mix in the Spanish radio station and the classical radio station with my audio books. (I figure she can be bilingual, appreciate the arts and have a wide vocabulary upon birth.)
