Today's realizations/observations/notes

* I have orange juice in my fridge with a "Best Before" date of Aug. 11. That's AFTER the baby is due. That means we're buying food that could still be here when the baby comes. Whoa.

* I have no trips planned for quite some time. I'm hoping to make it to Ohio during my maternity leave, but until the baby arrives and I decide for sure that I'm brave enough for travel with an infant, we're pretty much staying put. It was interesting to see an ad online for bing.com and not start searching for flight prices.

* For a while, most of the people who voted in the "When will Elle arrive?" poll seemed to think she would come late, which I would love (to give me extra time to prepare) and hate (because she'll be HUGE and I'll have extra time to freak out). But when the poll closed, it was split - six people think she'll be less than two weeks early, four think she'll be right on time, and six think she'll miss deadline and be late. Statistically, most first-time mothers don't go in to labor super early, but each person is different, and we'll see how eager Elle is to make her first deadline.

* For the last few weeks, I've had a convenient little built-in food-saving shelf. Last night, I was eating some popcorn, and the kernels that used to fall on the couch now come to rest on my belly (in extremely easy reach to continue shoveling in to my mouth, I might add).

* It doesn't take much for my bladder to fill these days.

* I should not listen to "Delilah" on the way home from work anymore. Especially when she plays "In My Daughter's Eyes."

* Putting a fat cat on your lap and clipping his nails when you are eight months pregnant and have the belly to show it? Quite a challenge.

* My boss doesn't mean anything malicious when he says "You've gotten rather large!" upon seeing me for the first time in more than two weeks.

* My coworker really means it when she says "No offense, but you look bigger every day."

* The last thing I'm going to want to worry about when we bring the baby home is that Tim is out of deodorant or we need more cat litter. I made a list today of things to stock up on in the next few weeks - not that Tim couldn't run out and get his own deodorant or buy cat litter, but I'm going to try to coupon clip and bargain buy and have it all on hand so we don't have to think about it.

* I need to get a baby record/memory book. I've found a few that I think will work well for what I want/need - now I just have to decide and buy/order one.

* So far, my belly button is not an outie. I can't say it is still an innie, but it hasn't quite popped out yet. And I'm not waddling yet, although I can see, with the baby's shifting position and growing weight, how that might be a possibility in the future. I *am* living in flip flops, as they contain my gigantic feet and are easy to slip off at work.
