How far along? 37 weeks - FULL-TERM!
Maternity clothes? Indeed.
Stretch marks? Nopers.
Best moment this week: I think the signs of labor, like the contractions and the internal exam at the doctor's appointment today (which showed that I'm 1 cm dilated but the head hasn't dropped much) - because even though they are scary, it is exciting to know how close we are to having the baby! My doctor noted "that baby is getting bigger" and "you're right on schedule" - translated by moi to mean "You're still having a huge baby, and it probably won't come in the next week or so, but it appears likely that you *will* give birth in 2010." It is good to know we're making progress, but it sounds like the doctor fully expects to see us again in a week at our regular appointment, not in the delivery room before that.
Symptoms: My joints and back are mega ouchie. I creak, I'm sore, I hobble (but not waddle!) ... and I know joints loosen near the end of pregnancy, but I feel like all of the arthritis in my family has suddenly migrated to *my* joints. Back rubs, frequent trips away from my desk at work and my heating pad help. There are days that I am ravenous, others that I have no appetite. My moods are all over the place, although I'm not sure how much that is pregnancy-related. I'm still getting a lot done, but I'm treasuring every minute of sleep, whether it be at night or in naps stolen on my days off.
Movement: Elle is running out of room to move, but she still gets in several good workouts each day. It is becoming quite more frequent that I feel a foot kick my ribs or a hand punch my pelvis. I am still getting to the gym most days but have scaled back the intensity of my workouts - usually I just try to walk for a while on the treadmill and lift weights.
Food cravings: I have taken a total nose-dive on the healthy cravings. I'm still eating balanced meals and fruits and veggies, but I've been craving cupcakes, cake, ice cream and M&Ms in addition to that. Luckily, the scale hasn't reflected that yet :)
Aversions: Still strawberry cream cheese.
Gender? It's a girl!
Sleep: I'm sleeping well. Bathroom trips are now every two hours instead of every 90 minutes, yippee!
What I miss: Tops that are long enough to cover my body. And wearing my wedding rings. After hearing and reading a ton of horror stories where women who hadn't even experienced swelling woke up one morning and couldn't get their rings off (and had to go to the ER and have them cut off!), I decided it was safest to stop wearing mine after the humidity really started to hit here and I'd experienced some swelling. I miss them! (And I always wonder if people think I got knocked up out of wedlock when I'm not wearing them, haha.) I've been swelling less lately, but I still have random bouts of puffy fingers or Snausage toes.
What I am looking forward to: Our next appointment! And just getting more stuff prepared for the baby's arrival.
Weekly Wisdom: Talking about your water breaking and contractions freaks your coworkers out :)
Milestones: Full-term!
