39 weeks

Baby is still the size of a WATERMELON (an 8 pound, 1 ounce watermelon).

How far along? 39 weeks!

39 weeks, 1 day. Black is no longer slimming.

(Photo from 38 weeks, 6 days, when we took an impromptu picnic and walk on the beach on what was our last night off together before the baby comes.)

Maternity clothes? Indeed.

Stretch marks? Nopers.

Best moment this week: Indirectly related to the baby ... Tim got a new assignment at work, and it will provide him with some great opportunities, more consistency in his schedule and a "normal" life for him. This also means that because we'll be mostly working opposite shifts, we won't require as much childcare, which makes me happy because our baby will be with one of us more, and we'll save money on a sitter. The down side? We'll be working mostly opposite schedules. For maternity leave, we'll almost have "normal lives." And after ... well, we'll have to see what my schedule at work shakes out to be. I'm hoping we can have at least one day off together.

The ultrasound was pretty fun, too - always great to see the baby, even with her smushy little face! :)

Symptoms: SWELLING. Sore hands. Lots of peeing. Moderate heartburn. Loose joints. Contractions, which are gaining in length and intensity but still not overly terrible or consistent at all. Back pain. But still, overall, at 39 weeks (goodness gracious), I'm getting around pretty well, not peeing my pants or waddling, so I'll take it!

Movement: I asked Tim if he could imagine having an 8-pound baby moving around and kicking and punching in his stomach. He could not. But that is what we're dealing with ... I am finding it impossible hard to find a comfortable position when she gets in one of her wiggly moods, and every movement from her is huge. There are no soft taps or gentle flips. I'm still getting to the gym most days, although I'm mostly just hitting the treadmill at this point and lifting weights twice a week.

Food cravings: Pizza. (Papa John's, to be specific.) Suckers. Fruits. Smoothies. Ice cream.

Aversions: Still strawberry cream cheese.

Gender? It's a girl!

Sleep: Good.

What I miss: I don't miss scooping the kitty litter, but I feel bad that Tim always has to do it, and sometimes when he isn't here and the kitties are particularly smelly I wish I could just scoop it. I also miss not dealing with painful swelling each day. I miss not feeling like I need to borrow a forklift to get me off the couch. And I miss not being asked "Did you have the baby yet/When is your last day at work/When is the baby coming/Insert other similar question here." It is on my mind a lot, and the frequent reminders don't help.

What I am looking forward to: BABY'S ARRIVAL!

Weekly Wisdom: People who want to give you advice or their opinion on your choices do not want to hear your side of things.

Milestones: I have a new nickname for "little" Elizabeth - some people said "Gigantor" wasn't a nice nickname, so I've shortened it to Gigi. Nearing the end of pregnancy. Having an induction date set.
