Week 5 update

(Written 11.12.12. I've been writing weekly updates since soon after we found out, so I'll post them over the next few days and soon we'll be up to date. Since a) there was nothing to see and b) we were in Ohio for two of the first few weeks, I didn't started consistently taking "bump" photos until around week 8 or 9.)

Baby is the size of an appleseed.

How far along? Most online estimators tell me I'm five weeks today - will know more after my first prenatal appointment!

Total weight gain/loss: Holding steady from my "start" weight 10 days ago.

Maternity clothes? Nope. But the bloat?! Makes me yearn for maternity jeans and sweatpants.

Best moment this week: This is going to sound weird, but since I've known about the pregnancy for almost two weeks already, it's not the "we're pregnant!" response I gave at this time with Elle. There are some quite different things that got me all excited this week - we actually came up with a boy name that we really, really like, and Elle also is getting in to this "There's a baby in Mommy's belly" thing, which is cracking me up and melting my heart.

Symptoms: Lack of appetite, headaches, fatigue, boobs hurt, back hurts.

Movement: I'm heading to the gym this week after basically sleeping through most of my workout opportunities last week. I think it will help a lot mentally and physically right now.

Food cravings: Juices and sweet drinks like ICE water and Crystal Light.

Aversions: Just not very hungry in general ... and not finishing my cup of decaf in the morning.

Gender? I'm guessing boy.

Sleep: Not as much as I'd like to be, and while I'm sleeping through most of the night, I keep waking up early and often can't get back to sleep. I'm also battling some noticeable restless leg syndrome, leg cramps and charley horses. Bah.

What I miss: Being carefree about what I eat, do, etc. I forgot about all of the little things you need to consider when you're pregnant. And I miss not feeling like I'm keeping a big secret! :)

What I am looking forward to: Telling friends and family next week when we're in Ohio! It's early, but I refuse to miss out on a chance to tell these people in person.

Weekly Wisdom: Don't waste time worrying about when the morning sickness is going to start - mind over matter, maybe? :)

Milestones: Being pregnant!
