Telling Tim

I got home a bit early from work on Sunday night, but I had to work an early shift at Michael's the next morning, so I wanted to get to bed as soon as possible.

As I pulled in to the parking lot, Tim texted me to hurry so I could watch the end of the Steelers/Ravens game, which was going down to the wire. Normally, I would have cared greatly about the Steelers game, but I had other things on my mind, people.

I walked in with the gift bag and Tim - not taking his eyes off the TV - asked me if he could open his present. I said no, he had to focus when he opened it. But I warned him that I had to go to bed early, hoping he'd offer to take a moment, stop watching the game and open it then. But no.

Overtime loomed and Tim asked again if he could open the present. I said he could open it before OT started if the game didn't end in regulation. The game did not, so I let him open it. He felt around, finding the CD first and thanked me for it as he pulled it out of the tissue paper. Then he did a double-take. Then he slowly asked me if I was trying to tell him something. I told him to look at the thing behind the CD - and he looked at the digital pregnancy test and then stared at me. All of a sudden he started hugging me and asking me if it was real and I just nodded. I proceeded to tell him how hard it had been to keep the news from him all day.

I had to go to bed right away, but Tim put the rock lullaby CD as I fell asleep. It's quite jarring to hear "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" in baby lullaby xylophone :)
