31 weeks

Baby is still the size of a squash.

(31 weeks, relaxed after relaxation technique
practice at childbirth education class.
)

How far along?
31 weeks.

Maternity clothes? Indeed. I had to buy a few more long tanks that will hopefully allow me some more layering options in this heat and get me through the end.

Stretch marks? Nothing new.

Best moment this week: Incredible strength of movement.

Symptoms: A bit of heartburn, some shortness of breath/lack of energy, more swelling o' the feet and hands and some back pain - all things (aside from the heartburn) that I think can be chalked up to my body just telling me to slow down a bit.

Movement: Tim and I both amazed by the strength of the baby's movements now. She's taken to plopping herself on one side of my body more often now, too, which leaves me feeling quite lopsided, but I can feel a definite mass on whatever side she's chosen, and while I can't tell if it is her head or her butt, it's entertaining. One night she was kicking the crap out of me, and Tim couldn't believe how active she was - he'd never felt that much continuous movement from her. She's definitely most active from about 11 p.m. until 3 a.m. and doesn't seem to appreciate me trying to nap. Tim also enjoys getting responses from her - he'll poke or pat or tap the area she's in and wait for her to kick back. So far, no mommies have been harmed in the playing of the game.

Food cravings: It is blueberry season, and I made this bread for the second time in three weeks. I try to lower the fat in it by substituting applesauce for the Crisco and cutting back on the butter, and with all of the fruit, it is quite yummy. My appetite in general has been pretty poor lately (I think because of my growing size and the intense heat), so I've been trying to eat small, healthy meals whenever I can.

Aversions: Still strawberry cream cheese.

Gender? It's a girl!

Sleep: I have been getting late-night bursts of energy that have pushed my bedtime back a bit, but I'm sleeping well once I go to sleep and as soon as Little Miss stops her aerobics long enough for me to fall asleep.

What I miss: Not bumping in to things. I love my bump, but I keep forgetting about it and have bumped in to people, furniture, walls, etc. It makes hugging a tad awkward, too.

What I am looking forward to: It is a big week! We have more childbirth education classes, a shower, the arrival of my mom and brother and our second ultrasound :)

Weekly Wisdom: Emotions are the devil.

Milestones: Realistically, baby *could* be born next month. Baby's first trip to the pool! Baby's first Memorial Day!

I decided a trip to one of our complex's pools would be a nice treat.
