Our little addict

At our first pediatrician's visit, we received a package of samples. In this package was a little sample of vitamin D drops, which our doctor told us should be given to breastfed babies. (They get all sorts of great things from breastmilk, but vitamin D is lacking.) We started giving them to Elle, and she loved it.

Soon, we realized they were the perfect way to calm her down during a diaper change or sponge bath. She'll go from hysterical to calm in 2 seconds. The drops are orange-flavored, and other than milk, they are the only thing she's ever tasted, so she seems to thoroughly enjoy them. It is fun to watch her "gum them," and she knows what is coming when you bring the dropper to her mouth.

The lighting is dark, but here is a video (taken on her one-month birthday!) of our hiccuping, crying, fussy baby turned wondrous, happy, cooing child during a diaper change, all thanks to her version of baby crack.
