If you haven't noticed by now ...

... I'm big on dates. My calendar is cluttered with birthdays, half-birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I'm a tad sentimental. And I absolutely cannot believe how fast Elle is growing up.

Two years ago, at right around this time, I was sitting down with Tim to tell him some news. Last year, I posted a "what a difference a year makes" post. (Don't worry, I have another one of those coming up soon.) Oh, how much I have learned in those two years. And how much I still don't know.

And this year, I'm still in awe of how peeing on a little stick is tied to how grateful I am for this:

On Sunday, I brought Elle in to cuddle with us. She interpreted cuddle as "romp around the bed and say lots of cute stuff." She kept saying one of her new catch phrases: "Where did Daddy go? Where is Daddy?"  She followed that up by singing an increasingly recognizable version of her ABCs with me (she's still partial to 'W' but has strung together a few other sounds to chime in with the 'ABC' and 'LMNOP' parts). Tim said, "Did she get smarter overnight?" I assured him that she'd always been that smart :) But as we watched and listened to our "baby," we exchanged a smile and look that basically said "How did we get so lucky? How is she ours?"

I remember many moments of that day two years ago vividly. The 730 days in between then and now are a blur of time, full of moments like her first smile, nursing sessions in random places, her love of pizza, her many trips to Ohio and our Sunday morning cuddle. Although it may sound cliche, I marvel every day at how a little bundle of cells turned in to this precious, dynamic, intelligent and funny little girl. Two years has given us a toddler with wispy hair and mullet curls and all sorts of quirks that make me laugh approximately 83 times a day, even when I am frustrated and exhausted.

November, which has become an extremely memorable month for our family, is almost over, and as of tomorrow, I have a 16-month-old. Hold me.
